Brigid' is a dance inspired by the pre-Christian goddess Brigid. It delves into folkloric mythologies, ancestries, colonial violence and mortality while reimagining death and gender. The project incorporates oral traditions through the lens of sean nós vocalisations focusing on generational transmission through performance, as well as aspects of traditional Irish dance forms and physical transformations that serve as a conduit for collective experiences and legacies. As a dynamic container for affect, ‘Brigid’ explores the relationship between sound, vocality, and imagery, challenging horror genre tropes. Through a visual and auditory immersion, 'Brigid' presents a visceral exploration of grief, gender, horror, and the supernatural.
