SAFE HAVEN
People are always looking for a safe place, a safe haven, where they try to hide
for violence, war, threats, intimidation.
Unfortunately, people are forced to flee when they suddenly find themselves in
the eye of a war/economic or natural disaster and have to look for a shelter, a
safe place where they can rest their heads.
Nowadays we are all, people all over the world, facing climate change, which
can be another reason to leave your safe place and go and look for a safe place
where there is no wind nor storm.
Over the last decades Europe has been a safe haven for many people who fled
for war, violence, political, sexual or ethnic persecution and also people with a
free spirit, artists and so on. Everyone found a safe place somewhere to stay to
do his or her “thing”. Recently, the free port of Europe, has started to silt up.
That is why we must continue to remind each other that tolerance has always
been of paramount importance to us. We will do this with our performance
'Safe Haven'. By bringing this tradition of freedom and tolerance back to
attention in a playful and artistic way. Playful and artistic, because many artists,
writers and musicians found their safe haven in Europe.
With our dance, theater and music performance we want to raise awareness
about having a safe place in a changing climate and polarizing society. We got
to trust each other from both sides, those who live in Europe for many
generations and also those who are the so called new comers…
